21 grams is the most disappointing film I’ve seen in a while. It has a very smart and engaging writing style multi-layered and has a pretty interesting story – but there is something in this movie that struck me as arthouse cliché melodrama times more artificial. Especially, if the game is pretty good (especially Benicio Del Toro and Naomi Watts), the characters are not interesting. They are flat, extended with some human characteristics, and they never say anything real or interesting. Instead mostly quote scripture, cry, moan, scream, cry, complain, shrug, etc. They are there to shake and cry and come to hang the story rather live and breathe and look real. Some spoiler FOLLOW
For example, Paul (Sean Penn), Judge Christina (Naomi Watts), it is only fear and annoying, but it feels forced and empty.
