Captain High 'Bulldog' Drummond has just returned to England. As he is driving home in the dark, a young woman jumps out in front of his car. He misses her, but she falls to the ground. As he tries to revive her, he hears a shout for help, then gunshots. As he goes to investigate, the woman drives away with Drummond's car. He is soon able to trace her to nearby Greystone Manor, and when he goes there to meet her, she urges him to help her get out of a desperate situation.

Mix a quarter cup of Sherlock Holmes adventures of James Bond to add a lot of small budget, some gags, a hint of romance, language and customs of the thirties, shake well, and you Bulldog Drummond: a group of pre-war B -movies, if you will, but with certain elements intriguing and funny moments. “Bulldog Drummond Escapes” is one of three “Bulldog Drummond” productions in 1937, and one of the highlights of the series in my opinion.
few words about Captain Hugh “Bulldog” Drummond for those who still do not know: charming and courteous, but a man of action in case of need, is a former British officer in the First World War he spends his free time helping Scotland Yard to solve complex cases “Bulldog” is accompanied by. impassive, spiritual and vaguely surreal butler Tenny (my favorite) and useless, dumb friend Algy (a negative point, most of the time is not fun), and is constantly on the verge of marrying his girlfriend, Phyllis (adventures happen and delaying marriage, of course). All of these fictional characters were created by “Sapper”, a pseudonym of Herman Cyril McNeile, and continued by Gerard Fairlie after the death of McNeile inspired their novels more than twenty films, many of which are in the thirties.

It is hardly a gem of highest water, but it definitely has some moments of suspense and humor. It is located on a foggy night without end (is fog, sometimes inside.) In England BD tries to save a damsel in distress. Though clearly shot, the fog and the darkness did not help but look completely wrong.
actors are good even if Ray Milland plays the hero in the eyes of fashion this manic bright gear and the light that is seen in many films of 30, and his partner, Algy, is a bit ‘like fashion crazy Watson has often been represented in the movie Sherlock Holmes.
However, there are a number of funny scenes dialogue between Milland and others in films like ‘rate of better than average programmer.
I was very surprised by this lively little number, available in the UK on a DVD with two other films of the same plot series.A simple but effective and a good location on the action scenes pretty well mounted a “programmer”. Bulldog Drummond was better served by the film Dick Barton acted in productions Hammer, who came from a dozen years later.Well interesting to watch, with a nice flavor late thirties, and far superior to Subsequent attempts Richard Johnson character.Maybe its time for a renewed interest in Bulldog Drummond! Ray Milland is a suave hero and a star Heather Angel heroine.When pert grand prix series Ray Milland, John Howard has played the role of equal charm.
